Ellendale Man Cited for Inattentive Driving Following Crash on Roth Bridge

A 35-year-old Ellendale man was ticketed for inattentive driving following a Thursday night crash on the Roth Bridge.

Delaware State Police say the crash happened just after 9 p.m. after a Volvo tractor trailer, driven by 60-year-old Elving  Hinojosa of Dumfries, Virginia entered Route 1 northbound from the on-ramp just south of the bridge.

Police say the tractor trailer was struck by a Chevy box truck, driven by Joseph Shreves. The impact caused the box truck to travel across the center and left lanes and strike the bridge’s concrete median.

Hinojosa was not injured; Shreves was taken to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he was treated and released for injuries on his lower extremities.
