Repairs Slowly being Made at Assateague Following Superstorm Sandy
Repairs are continuing nearly a month after Hurricane Sandy caused problems at Assateague in Maryland.
Damage at Assateague in Maryland was extensive when Hurricane Sandy hit last month.
More than three weeks later, the North Beach parking area in the Maryland section is open.
The campground known as Little Levels is open again, too, as is the over-sand vehicle zone.
As for hunting, it’s available on a limited basis.
Chief of education Liz Davis said the bike trail is also being repaired. She said fallen trees have been taken away and sand is still being removed from the South Ocean Beach parking area.
