UPDATE: Pedestrian In Fatal Crash in Wilmington ID’d

UPDATED 11:45 BY ANDREW KOCH: The woman who was struck and killed in Wilmington last night has been identified.

Delaware State Police say just before 8 o’clock last night, 37-year-old Mary Stebner of Townsend was running across the northbound lanes of Concord Pike just north of Murphy Road when she was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 76-year-old Carl Golden of Wilmington. Troopers say Stebner was wearing dark clothing and was crossing in an unlit area. She later died at Christiana Hospital. Golden was wearing his seatbelt, and wasn’t injured in the crash.

State Police are still investigating.

UPDATED STORY:  Delaware State Police this morning are investigating a fatal crash in Wilmington last night that claimed one life.

Police say the crash happened around 8 p.m. as  a 37-year-old female pedestrian was running in an eastbound direction from the median across the northbound lanes of Concord Pike. She was struck by a Jeep Cherokee, driven by 76-year-old Carl Golden of Wilmington.

Police say the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and was crossing in an unlit area; she was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital.

No charges have been filed in the crash.

ORIGINAL STORY:  Delaware State Police this morning are investigating a fatal crash in Wilmington last night that claimed one life.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. when a vehicle traveling north on Route 202 struck the woman near Murphy Road.

Police have NOT yet released other details about the crash.
