Dewey Beach Looking To Hire Engineering Consultant To Oversee Ruddertowne Project
The town of Dewey Beach is looking for an engineering firm that can offer its advice on the Ruddertowne redevelopment project.
Acting Town Manager Marc Appelbaum tells The Daily Times of Salisbury that given the size of the project, Dewey Beach’s residents and property owners should get another set of eyes to look over the project and protect the town’s interests. He says hiring a qualified firm will ease the pressure on town building official Bill Mears.
Construction began this summer to redevelop the Ruddertowne property into a nearly 46-foot high mixed-use complex featuring a Hyatt Place hotel, condos, retail shops and restaurants. The complex would provide year-round employment, and also family-friendly attractions and a modern convention center, in keeping with the town’s Comprehensive Development Plan.
Appelbaum declined to talk to WGMD.
