Delaware Congressman John Carney is praising Monday’s announcement that Delta Air Lines is purchasing the ConocoPhillips refinery in Trainer, Pennsylvania.
The company employs thousands of local workers and has not been active since October 2011.
Congressman Carney says he’s glad the refinery will continue to operate on a stretch of the Delaware River that has provided jobs for so many years, while utilizing the unique skill sets of local workers.
Carney says he has been working closely with union leaders, business executives and elected officials from around the region for months to find a viable way to save the refinery.
