3 arrested in Greenwood drug bust

Three men have been arrested in a drug bust in Greenwood.

The Delaware State Police say officers in the Kent and Sussex County Governor’s Task Forces observed Qualeel Wescott and Charles Handy of Greenwood, along with Kevin Hardy of Milford, conducting illegal drug sales Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 8). Troopers say the men tried to flee when detectives arrived. All were arrested and charged with multiple drug offenses.

Greenwood, DE- The Delaware State Police Kent Governor’s Task Force has arrested three men after the culmination of an open air drug investigation in the Greenwood area.
 
On Wednesday February 8th, the Kent County Governor’s Task Force, with the assistance of the Kent County Drug Unit and Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, conducted surveillance operations in the area of Unity Lane in Greenwood.  During this time, the detectives were able to observe three males wearing bandanas over the lower portions of their faces conducting illegal drug sales.
 
Detectives responded into Unity Lane as the three suspects attempted to flee the area on foot but were quickly subdued.  The Troopers were able to locate a total of 2.2 grams of crack cocaine, 1 gram of marijuana, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency upon searching all three subjects.  The suspects were also selling the drugs within 300 foot of a church that is located on Unity Lane.
 
Wescott was arrested and charged with the above crimes and committed to Stevenson House in Milford on $6,100.00 secured bail. Hardy was charged with the above crimes as well as a capias out of Sussex County Family Court and committed to JTVCC on $10,500.00 secured bail.  Charles Handy was charged with the above crimes and released on $11,000.00 unsecured bail.
