UPDATED 6:50 P.M: A Milford man was treated for minor injuries after his car went through the median and into oncoming traffic on Route 1 in Dover this afternoon.
State Police say 62-year-old Wayne Wolfe was driving north on Route 1, approaching the Dover toll plaza, when his Ford Fusion went off the road, through the median and across the southbound lanes before hitting in several trees. After being trapped in the car, Wolfe was treated for minor injuries at Kent General Hospital. State Police continue to investigate the accident, which partially closed the southbound lanes for two hours.

Wolfe’s vehicle then left the northbound lanes, crossed the grass median, and entered into the southbound lanes of Rt. 1, still traveling in a northbound direction. His vehicle then traveled off of the west edge of the southbound lanes where it struck several small trees before coming to rest in a small wooded area.Wayne Wolfe was trapped in his vehicle for a period of time until he could be freed by responding emergency workers. He was then transported by EMS to the Kent General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.DE Rt. 1 southbound was partially closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.This crash remains under investigation at this time.
UPDATED 4:15 P.M: Delaware State Police have fully reopened southbound Route 1 between the Dover Toll Plaza and Puncheon Run Connector following a single-vehicle accident that happened around 3 o’clock this afternoon. However, State Police are still on the scene investigating, and drivers should still expect delays.
Delaware State Police are on the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Route 1 South between the Dover Toll Plaza and the Puncheon Run Connector.
The accident happened around 3 o’clock. Troopers say one person is trapped inside that vehicle.
The right lane of Route 1 southbound is closed. The left lane is open, but drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.

The left hand lane of southbound Rt. 1 at the scene is open at this time; however, commuters should expect delays and use alternate means of travel around the area if possible.More detailed information will be released upon the completion of the investigation.
